Submissions are now open for the 13th annual Blue Heeler Film Festival.
We’re delighted to announce that this year’s 2026 Blue Heeler Film Festival theme is:
TREASURE
A celebration of the people, places and moments that shape our lives.
Treasure can be found anywhere. In a memory, a landscape, a community, or a discovery waiting to happen.
We invite filmmakers of all ages to explore what’s truly precious — what we protect, what we pass on, and what we choose to remember.
Award Ceremony Night Details
Join us for the 2026 Blue Heeler Film Festival Award Ceremony, as we come together to celebrate the creativity, talent and storytelling of this year’s filmmakers.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of Two Rivers Wines in Denman, the evening will showcase our 2026 finalists and winning films, with awards presented across our festival categories.

The 2026 Blue Heeler Film Festival will feature three categories:
1. Secondary School Junior - for entrants aged 13-15 years
2. Secondary School Senior - for entrants aged 16-18 years
3. Open Category - for entrants 18 years and over
This event is organised by Muswellbrook Shire Council and supported by our major sponsor Bengalla Mining and is open to Australian residents only.
